By wadeasia 22 November, 2025

At WADE Asia 2025, Ar. Hiren Patel highlighted the pivotal role of women in architecture and design, drawing from both his personal experiences and professional practice. As a keynote speaker at the event celebrating women in design, he delivered an inspiring address on the theme “The Power of SHE.”

He began by acknowledging THE WADE ASIA as a platform dedicated to celebrating women architects and designers. Reflecting on its founder, Verticaa Dvivedi, he narrated her inspiring journey of moving from a small town to Delhi with courage and determination, building the platform despite numerous struggles, and eventually creating a large-scale event that India truly needs.

Within his own practice at Hiren Patel Architects and Design (HPAD), he underlined that woman form the majority, describing himself as being “in the minority” in his office. He shared how women not only contribute as designers but also lead and manage responsibilities at multiple levels. The heads of departments in his practice, including architecture and landscape, are women who set the tone for the office culture and operations.

Ar. Hiren Patel also spotlighted individual stories of women who have grown remarkably within his practice. One such example is Jignesha, who initially joined HPAD as a receptionist with a background in commerce but gradually developed her skills in design and technology. Through persistence and learning, she rose to become one of the lead designers in the firm. Her story was presented as a testament to women’s drive, adaptability, and growth potential when provided with the right opportunities. He emphasized his admiration and respect for women in the profession, noting how their leadership, creativity, and sense of responsibility shape not only his practice but also the larger design community.

He further highlighted how women in his office influence him personally – reminding him about presentation, professionalism, and details that often go unnoticed. Through anecdotes, humor, and real-life examples, Ar. Hiren Patel reinforced the idea that women are not just participants but powerful drivers of architectural practices and movements like THE WADE ASIA. His address was as much a celebration of their courage and achievements as it was an acknowledgment of their indispensable role in design.

THE WADE ASIA team salutes Ar. Hiren Patel for this heart-touching presentation and for the kind & sensitive human being that he is!
