Ar Dorji Yangki is the first-ever elected female President of the Bhutan Institute of Architects (BIA) and the first female Chair of SAARCH (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation of Architects). Ar Yangki remains the Chief Architect and Head of the Department of Conservation of Heritage Sites (under Ministry for the Home and Cultural Affairs, Bhutan) for about fifteen years. Some of the architect’s noted restoration projects are monasteries Takshang (Tiger’s Nest), Folk Heritage Museum and Simtokha Dzong. Few other examples of her impeccable design works can be seen at the National Archives of Bhutan, the gallery of the National Museum, and the Offices of the Royal Academy of Performing Arts in Thimphu.
