One of the world's highest altitude airports at approximately 3250 meters above the mean sea level, the new terminal building would cater to one of the country's most scenic destinations which is currently facing enormous growth in passenger air traffic.
The building is conceptualized along the lines of Buddhist architecture with an aim to provide a firsthand glimpse of the beautiful city of Leh and surroundings to the passengers while using this facility. The terminal building follows the mountainous terrain and is spread over three levels. With approximately 20,000 sqm of built-up area, the terminal consists of four aero-bridges, dedicated departure halls, ground boarding and ground arrivals facility. The overall development borrows skills and knowledge from the local Ladhaki community which would be very useful in delivering a world-class terminal building for Leh, Ladakh.
