Materials interplay with design idea to curate beautiful and arty spaces. Shilpa spoke about one of the residential projects that were designed by her firm for a joint family in Mumbai. The house was about 5000-6000 sqft area which comprised of 3 generations. Shilpa got the terrace area deigned in terrazzo monochromatic flooring in a pattern which is free flowing resembling the waves of the Arabian Sea that enhances the beauty of the space. For terrazzo they worked in tandem with Bharat flooring. The temple here was a huge focus for this house and everything else sort of surrounded it. Entire solid wood door was used with lot of detail and intersperse to sort of show the solidarity of the joint family. At both ends of the temple screen with lattice pattern can be seen which has been Exclusive custom-designed with amalgamation of Resin and wood where wood is casted together with Resin in between them by a routed fusion process.
The custom-designed pattern inspired from the starburst not only imparts diffused light and shadow patterns but also accounts for ventilation and creates a beautiful artistic statement to the living and dining spaces. An accentuating wall was customized in the dining room was done by Evolve. The coating is in various metals like brass, patina and copper finish.
